Carmen Simmonds, glass artist and founder of re-storyz

Carmen Simmonds, Founder

Carmen Simmonds is a glass artist based in rural Whanganui, where her studio is immersed in the surrounding natural landscape that continually informs and shapes her work.

Re-storyz emerged from two defining influences: her strong environmental consciousness and the dynamics of an ever-evolving world. Over time, Carmen's artistic practice has been deeply shaped by her connection to the land and her sense of belonging within it. Seeking to share this perspective more broadly, she established Re-storyz as a platform to offer insight into glass art and the rhythms of studio life.

Through Re-storyz, she engages with students via both online and in-person workshops, mentoring, and practical glass-making support, all centred within a professional working studio environment.

Environmental responsibility underpins every aspect of Re-storyz, with sustainable practices thoughtfully integrated into its workshops wherever possible. At its core, Re-storyz encourages a considered approach to creativity, one that remains in harmony with nature while fostering artistic expression in others.

Re-storyz is about approaching creativity a little differently, staying in step with nature while nurturing the artist in all of us.
